May 26th Outreach 2024: This Jesus

On May 26, 2024, 6dwthg held an outreach at Double B Stores, located directly opposite the Federal College of Education (FCE) in Osiele, Abeokuta. From 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the team gathered at this busy spot, where students, locals, and shopkeepers frequent, creating an ideal atmosphere to spread the message of the Gospel.

The outreach team began with worship and prayer, attracting the attention of passersby and shoppers in the area. As people went about their day, the presence of the outreach team, accompanied by the sound of worship, drew many to stop and listen. The message of the day centered on hope and redemption, with a specific focus on the students and young adults in the community.

God’s Servant – Olalekan – shared about the relevance of Jesus in everyday life, particularly emphasizing the struggles and pressures that students face in their academic and personal lives. As he preached the message of hope, some idol worshippers in the area were spiritually challenged by the bold declaration of Jesus as the only true God. The team invited them to show up and defend their gods, but despite the challenge, they did not appear. However, there was a spiritual backlash. Suddenly, our equipment began to malfunction—speakers crackled, microphones stopped working, and the atmosphere became tense. The attack on the equipment was a clear spiritual resistance, and for a moment, I couldn’t even preach.

It was during this period of difficulty that we turned to prayer, calling on God to intervene. The team interceded, and after a short but intense prayer, the atmosphere shifted. A wave of peace and power swept through the area, and the equipment began working again. It was evident that God had stepped in. I was able to preach, and from that moment forward, the word of God moved with undeniable power.

People who had initially been distracted or disinterested were drawn back into the message. The Word pierced hearts, and many began to weep as the Spirit of God moved among the crowd. Several individuals, including students and business owners, gave their lives to Christ, experiencing His transforming power firsthand. The outreach, which had started with challenges, ended with a powerful testimony of God’s supremacy and grace.

To the glory of God, the outreach that day was a victory not just over physical obstacles but over spiritual forces. God’s Word prevailed, and His name was lifted high in Osiele. The idol worshippers who might have sought to oppose the Gospel were silenced, and God’s power was made manifest. It was a day that none of us will forget—a testimony to the fact that when God steps in, nothing can stand in the way of His message.

This outreach at Double B Stores was a powerful reminder of the importance of meeting people where they are—in the midst of their daily lives—and sharing the hope that only Jesus can provide.
